Ex Idol contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter has announced that she and husband of one year Jamie Babbington are to separate. Married last September the couple stated that too much time apart and distance from each other has resulted in the end of their marriage. Her publicist said that the split was amicable and they still remain friends.

It is sad that Ricki's marriage is over but yeah i'm not that surprised.
I don't think it'll be too long before she's got a new man- i think he'll be in music industry because that seems to be the only way to have a successful relationship- think Delta and Brian.

sometimes it's ahrd when you first lvoe someone anad then the honeymoon period's over and that's when it all gets tough. i think they need some space and ask themselves hwat they really want out of their relationship.m if it's just eh distance thing, yes, it can be worked on... there needs to be committment, like they need to find time for each other. every relationship NEEDS that. without that, it's over before it started...

The problem with the "distance" is Ricki's stretching herself over THREE cities in THREE states.
1) Her home with Jaime in Brisbane.
2) Sydney flat- for 'Idol'.
3) Melbourne flat- (cos she loves us Melbourners....) Really, it's cos Shock Records is based in Melb, which means she has to be here....

she always said that he was kind of a 'homebody' like he never goes to see award shows with her, and he has no interest in that kind of thing, and that does not work with Ricki Lee's job, and Ricki Lee can't at all be the kind of homebody he may or may not need....maybe he was expecting a Housewife, or something, or maybe he figured out he wants a Housewife and with Ricki, he can't get it, not at all!...so they divorce for the best, Distance may have been able to be helped, but if he wanted a Housewife, then she couldn't change herself to be that, and then you get the divorce!...its a real shame

Ok first up, Jamie isn't a homebody. Yes he likes to do stuff around the house and have everything organised, but he never liked to go to awards and stuff because he was left sitting by himself while she went off and mingled with other D grade celebrities! He was hardley ever invited. He tried to go to every gig she did but being that he lived on the Gold Coast, he couldn't exactly leave his business just to keep her happy (though he tried his hardest and he put her so high on a pedistal, she just practically spat in his face). She wanted a life of money and Fame and he tried his best to keep her feet on the ground... not so he could make her his housewife, but so she wouldn't think she was better than everyone else and still be Ricki...He never tried to change her and thats why HE asked her to rethink the whole marriage thing. Jamie is an awesome guy and he deservs so much better than Ricki...she got married just to have a wedding, I mean c'mon, she's 22 he's 31, and he was her first love, of course she is going to want the whole thing, but married life wasn't made to be for her...not yet anyway!


So don't judge people that you don't know, there is always two sides to a story! Hopefully they both move on and meet the people they are meant to be with!

^seriously, come on, I know that, I'm not stupid, it was a reason I thought, and thinking through now, maybe it was wrong, but I was curious, I have a right to wonder about the reasons for things, especially with people I love, artists and people I know...but I think you're looking at it from his side alone too, don't judge people you don't know either!

Do you know Ricki personally? Its so frustrating that people think that they know about other peoples lives, she is a celebrity (to an extent) and yes she is very talented but it would be the same if you were in the public eye all the time, not everyone would know your business...you wouldn't want them to. I know Jamie, and he is a great guy but they just made the wrong decisions too late in life. Im not siding with anyone, Im just using MY right to tell people that thee is always two sides to a story...!!
