It would stop the spam!

It's heavily annoying when you know that people are posting, merely to add to their post count.

So why not get rid of it? The join date is enough!

hmm i see your point...i don't think they'll get rid of it...maybe just make post counts in delta related...like in delta forums...in general and music and stuff it doesn't count toward your post count

I like the post count(I try not to pay much attention to it).. I too am sick of all the spam, even though I know I spam.. we ALL SPAM from time to time.

I just am sick of members posting like almost 1000posts in a matter of DAYS rather than spread out over a couple of weeks/months, and then posting USELESS Appreciation threads when they made one 1000posts earlier.

I honestly can't figure out how someone can get 2000 posts in a few weeks. i'm on just over 5000, i've always been pretty active, i've tried to post more but 2000 posts?

Even back in the day when these forums were busy as, i couldn't see anyone posting that, nfi how someone can these days.

I'm with Mark, people should be posting to state their opinion, or further/create discussion, not so they can add another post to their count.

Exactly! I've been here since late 2004, I've only got 9000 posts! And I know I post a lot of pointless crap!

5398 posts in less then 5 months is crazy - that's overall for Lump-It + lumpybackup.

Kade has only just begun on the same path as Bec... yous need to find something else to do with your time instead of posting away.

I don't care about post count. It doesn't make anyone better than anyone else, and it doesn't make anyone less of a Delta fan if they don't have many posts. Delta's post count is low!

I hope they don't get rid of it because it is interesting to see how many posts people have. If they were going to get rid of it, they could keep it in people's profiles.

Instead of member titles, there could be something where you get to choose what it says if you want it to say something instead of 'Eternal Delta Fan' or something.

I don't know how people can post more than 100 times a day. I think most people do that because they think it is fun to post a lot, not for their post count. When I used to post a lot, it always took me a month to get 1,000 posts. Now it takes two or three months.

i dont think it should be deleted completely, but maybe if someone posts excessively it should stop counting after a certain number for the day? i dont know.

I don't care if people post more than 100 times a day. But there are some people who post that much just to make their post count higher. If they can't see how many posts they've made in a day, they will stop. (Not Kade or Becky. I meant other people).

i've been sick for 2 weeks so i've been spending a lot of time on the forum and in that time i've only managed to make near on 500 posts! and that's spending every day most of the day on here
people who get 1000's in like a week...it just seems impossible

I, like many others are fed up with the pointless spam on this forum, but I just choose to ignore it, its pretty obvious what threads are spam. I don't think removing post count will help the issue either, if people want to spam then they will. Its up to me, and you, and other members to post interesting content if we want to have sensible discussions

I've also been on a forum where posts in the games section didn't count towards total post count, which I didn't really see the point of, but I guess some people may call it a solution.

it's OBVIOUS that such posts are made, just for the sake of lengthening your post count. You're not contributing to the conversation in any good way at all.

So please, is it that hard to just tone it down a bit? Or if you want to post such crap, just do it in the "Games and Fun" area, instead of in the middle of discussion threads.

I personally like knowing how many posts I have. I think the spamming was a LOT worse in the past than it is now.

i personally like the post count! i take comfort in knowing ive made 10000 posts on here, shows how much i love coming on here

although i see the validity in wanting to remove the post count to stop spam, i don't reallyyy see it making a difference sadly >.<

i dont know if itd be possible but maybe they could introduce a filter system that simply hides posts with only emoticons in them?

ok lets set the record straight!!

about two weeks ago i got a PM from Martin to say that he thought i was spamming to much. I was shocked, cause back then i didnt think i spammed alot at all.
So i took on board what he said and i STOPPED SPAMMING EVERYWHERE, except in games and fun, cause after all, thats what games and fun is for.
There is NO discussion in that area.
But now......even though i have sopped spamming everywhere else people still think i spam to much

on a normal day yes........2-30 posts at the most

but atm i have been at home and in hospital sick and bored for 4 weeks straight!!
so i thought i would come on the forum to cheer me up.......have a laugh......and just have fun....it used to cheer me up....but now a few forumers have turned sour and made it bad for the rest of us!!

Ive noticed that too. People say 'participate in discussions'. But when I do so, people make fun of me and my username. Or they practically want to kill me for being honest. No wonder I enjoy posting in games and fun more. Unless the people that post there are fun and kind. And its hard to have arguments.

spammin like alota things is a part of life. so u got mods to sort it out when it gets really bad but other than that i think theres alot of other more important stuff to worry about.

the most i've ever got in a day is about 50-60 posts and that's when i've been sick and on all day...i don't see how people can do that and way more on a regular basis...

I tend to only judge people by how many posts they have when they spam heaps. I don't really care about post count otherwise..

your Idea is Kinda good Mark But i have another Suggestion Why don't we Add Rep(Reputation) Buttons to a User So when other people see that This User is Serious , Really posts for Something , help other Forumers or start cool Topics then They can Add pionts to His Rep. (like Hurt & heal But More Automated)
Some other Forums Have This Method & ofcourse The Admins will have Complete Control & if they see a Member with Fake Rep Like He asked his Friends For it or he is a Non-Serious Forumer They can give him a warn & decrease His Rep ,

Not that hard to do just needs Some one To manage it & for Members to Corporate With each other ,

Lets Just try To make Official Forum CLEAN & more FUN.
