does anyone know who the longest running character of Neighbours is??? I know that people like Harold and Lou have been in it a long time, but they weren't in it from the start...my guess is it would be them, followed by possibly the kennedys!!!

The longest continuous character is Lou and I think the family who's been on it the longest and is still there, is, as you said, the Kennedy's.

The longest Standing one was Helen Daniels but she left in 1997 - she was the last person to leave that had been in it from the start

You might actually find that it is the bishops. Madge has been in it from day one and harold was until he got swept away at sea then he came back had lost his memory.
But Harold and Lou have been in it the longest.

I think it's Harold and Lou. Then followed by the Kennedy's . Dunno who comes next tho. I think it's Toadie but i dunno.

Toadie may have actually been in it just a little bit longer than the kennedy's. From what I can remember they all came along around the same time.

Lou's the longest standing cast member still remaining

Yeah Harrold has been in the show the longest but her left for like 5 years So then its Lou, then the Kennedy's then Toddie I think.
I thiink the Kennedy's came just before Todie. Like a couple of weeks or something. because then he moved in with them.

i think its lou, cos dont forget harold disappeared for a while, when they thought he was dead after falling overboard. then the kennedys have been there for ages. im sure the bbc neighbours site will say though. if this had been home and away related i would have known!!! lol

Helen was the longest ever, Harold second longest and Lou third longest. Lou has been the longest continually still alive. Madge was also one of the longest.

Harold is the oldest and Lou is also pretty close to the same time

NEIGHBOURS started in 1985

Harlold Joined in 1987 and 'died' in 1991 - he came back in 1996.

IIRC Harold and Madge were NOT in it from the start but came in at the start of Season 2.

Lou came in 1988 but left, then came back in 1992.

Karl played another character in 1987 (Greg Cooper) but came in as Karl Kennedy in 1994 with the rest of his family.

Toadie came in 1995. Delta came in 2002.

So overall Harold has been in the longest time but Lou has been in a longer time without having a gap.

IMO the heyday of Neighbours was 96/97/98 - it got a bit rubbish when the Scully's showed up!
