The big screen remake of Friends is about to be given the green light, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims filming of the highly anticipated reunion of cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer will begin in 18 months. It is believed the project has been prompted by the worldwide success of the - and the City film.

Talk of a reunion for the gang from New York's Central Park has been rumoured ever since the show's demise in 2004.

While most of the ensemble has made no secret about their desire to get together for one last hurrah, Aniston is believed to have dragged her heels.

But now she is eager to push on with the Warner Bros-produced project.

- and the City is headed for a global box office total of over $300 million, exceeding all pre-release expectations.

Insiders say studio Warner Bros have been so impressed that it's scouring through its library of TV hits for other projects to be given feature length treatment
