Seeing the movie on the weekend - hope its good

AMANDA SEYFRIED!

Saw this a few days ago. Really good film, the songs were excellent and Amanda Seyfried and Julie Walters were great in their roles. The woman who was playing Donna was doing my head in throughout though.
When the film finished, the lights came on and I turned around and about 7 old ladies were standing up, dancing to the music, so funny

that was Meryl Streep who played Donna.

I'm gonna be totally honest, but please don't let this detract from your experience of the film, or if you want to see it, go, and judge for yourself.

I didn't like it. Well, I liked it, but the movie left a sour taste in my mouth. I've seen the musical twice and it was great. The movie pales in comparison, which is so unfortunate, because it could have been great. I can't put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but the singing was subpar, the acting was... average, and the movie wasn't as cheery or happy as it should have been. Nor was it colourful enough.

It looked forced, like everyone was determined to have fun, circumstances be damned. Kind of upsetting.

Just got home from the cinema! Best movie I have seen in ages! I cant believe how good it was! Really Really loved it and would deff see it again.

I saw it the day it came out in Adelaide I dragged my two non-ABBA friends, and both of them ended up liking it. I don't get how someone can't like Abba... lol

Amanda has the bestest voice!

I just saw it tonight! I LOVED IT!!! it was such a good film, i really enjoyed it and it was so enjoyable, upbeat and happy to watch which was so nice. Its made me wanna go to Greece too I love ABBA anyway so i went knowing i was going to love the music and was familiar with all the songs.Although you dont have to like ABBA's music to like the film! I di wanna sing all the way through, haha! I thought Amanda had a really great voice which i was really pleased about cos it would have been awful if she hadn't, and Meryl Streep was great too. 'Lay All Your Love On Me' was such a good part of the film and really well done/sung - it sounded really good with the male vocal! and Honey Honey - i cant get it out of my head! it sounded so sweet sung by Amanda. But i thought she overacted her part too much - great singing but wasnt keen on her acting, made me cringe a bit. Julie Walters as Rosie, Donna's friend, was fantastic and so funny! and the twist with Colin Firth's character was so funny and well done.

But im sorry - Pierce Brosnon wasnt great. He growled his way through his songs and his voice just wasnt up to the job. They should have got a fantastic male lead voice to do the job - it would have made that character so much better IMO. And i wish they'd cut the 'Does Your Mother Know' song - not the best ABBA song anyway, rubbish dance moves, and pointless storyline bit - didnt add anything to the plot - and i didnt like her character. but those where my only two weak points in the film.

Also, did anyone spot the cameo's made my Benny and Bjorn?? Made me a tad excited Loved the dancing at the end with the credits too. and the use of the greek 'chorus' throughout was a nice touch.

Overall though, its great! Im defo gonna get it on DVD.
