I thought I'd start a thread on the beautiful ZOOEY

Best known for her scene-stealing roles (often as the protagonist's best friend) and deadpan humour, Zooey is simply adorable! She also sings jazz, has an album out, and plays the ukelele!

She has been labelled an antistarlet for her modesty and anonymity, and is doing what she loves without demanding praise for it.

Think:

Failure to Launch- this is how I fell in love with her. She plays Sarah Jessica Parker's on-screen best friend.
A Bridge To Terabithia- she is so beautiful in this movie. Plays Miss Edmonds. (See above picture)
Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy- Trillian

Elf- probably best known for this role (though she is blonde) and showcases her amazing voice too.
Surf's Up- she's the voice of Lani.
The Happening- new film, hasn't exactly got rave reviews but I can't WAIT to see it.

& heaaaps more indie flicks. Also she stars in Almost Famous.

Any other fans on here? I know Bia and I are huge Zooey fans

I love her voice- her speaking voice. It's so cute

Even down to the spelling of her name, she is so unique.

PLUS, she is playing 'Summer' in the upcoming film, 500 days of Summer. That totally freaked me out!

Can't wait for that.

I wonder if Emily's annoyed that she got the not-so-unique name

She's very pretty, mostly they look very different, and yet sometimes similar. I guess that's like with all sisters though.

i love both zooey and emily! they are great!

ooo i got tin man out last week! its really really good! sooooo long though, like four and a half hours

i didnt think it would be very good cuase i had never heard of it till i saw it in the video store but i was presently surprised!

oo and failure to launch is one of my fave movies!

On an interview that Zooey done, she had longish blonde hair, and I thought it was Emily, cause she looked so much like her!!

i knoooow! i got it out and thought it was just the normal length of a film and then it ended really weirdly and i was liek ok then... and then i realised there was a part 2 ...... AND THEN a part 3

I got Bia to watch Failure to Launch and of course she loved that too

I wish her part was bigger in A Bridge to Terabithia- although of course it would have seemed bigger if I wasn't a fan of hers!

I loved her in failure to launch. I saw the happining last week and really liked it. She plays the part really well.

Awesome, that's one of the first good reviews I've heard so I'm hoping I like it. The main criticism was that it didn't build up the meaning enough, like the film had the potential to tackle such a poignant issue but fell short of achieving it. Also, people have been saying Zooey 'had little to do but look shocked'. I somehow doubt this is the truth, she usually brings a lot of spark to her roles.

Anyway I'm not a film buff so unless the film is dead boring I'll probably find it really enjoyable. It doesn't take much to get me interested most of the time

It is a good movie but I guess that criticism is right, they don't explain why it could happen or how which leaves you thinking its a bit stange. Its different but still good. Zooey's roles different to the usual quirky roles, bit more serious but still has that individuality to it

I saw Tin Man last night, and holy hell, the dvd said it went for like 2 hours- that was just 1 disc! It was nearly 5 hours! It was awesome though, and I don't usually like sci-fi. Zooey is soooo cute in it!

Me too. I really didn't like her red short hair phase, it made her look older

It's starring her and Jennifer Aniston... basically Jen's character (main character) is stuck in her life, she works in a supermarket, her husband is always drunk and doesn't pay her any attention... and a new guy shows up to work, called Holden, and he's a writer and anyway they have an affair and she falls pregnant to him but tells her husband (who is infertile) that it's his. Along the way, her husband's best mate finds out she is cheating and tells her that she has to sleep with him or he'll tell her husband. So she sleeps with him

It's really sad but not actually that good. Zooey only has a really minor role. She, as usual, has that deadpan humour of hers and she runs the loudspeaker at the supermarket. Her announcements are really funny but offensive and one lady comes up to her checkout and she goes "Fuck you very much."

I have a few interviews and every single one says something along the lines of "Zooey always plays the lead's quirky, deadpan best friend"

Those roles do suit her best. I think her biggest role is probably in Failure To Launch, but having said that, I haven't seen Winter Passing and she's the lead in that.

I listened to a few tracks from She and Him today and although they're not my style, they would be something I could always have in the background and hum along to

she has a beautiful voice.

I'm gonna buy Almost Famous this week

And Failure to Launch, her character in that movie is so much like mine. I thought she was hilarious and she's so stunning with her blue eyes. I want her hair and eyes!

Personally, I call it jazz, because that's what it sounds like to me. But most people categorise it as country. It sounds really old-school

I loved that.

I bought Almost Famous last night, and although her role is only at the beginning and end, she is fabulous in it, and that movie is amazing.

And I agree Steph, she is gorgeous... argh those eyes! I wish I could pull off a fringe like that. I also really want the sunnies she wears in FTL in the paintball scene, but I don't know what their style is called? It's like flat across the top but curved across the bottom?

Arghh do you? I wish I had blue eyes. I have such dark features. Dark brown hair, dark brown eyes etc. I LOVE how Zooey's hair is dark but then her eyes are just so blue, they stand out so much.

), and her pale skin totally tops it off. If she had a tan it wouldn't be the same...

My eyes used to be like this

but my head kinda grew into them and they don't seem as big anymore

See I have dark brown hair but I'm thinking of going nearly black, and with a side-fringe, but I don't want to look emo

My hair is basically the colour of Kristen Stewart's in your signature.

I'm asking everyone on msn if they know the type lol cos there's aviators, shutters... and different styles. Surely there's a style for this.

Yup she's an awesome singer, she's one half of a cabaret act as well, very multi-talented

Her music isn't my style but I do like it. It's just something I have on while doing something else, it's very laid back and old-style. I prefer her as an actress and I'd love to see her sing a different style of music

I hate having fine hair.. ergh. I've also got a bang like Zooey.. I've started calling fringes, BANGS, ever since I went to America

But I can either have it like Zooey's hair in that picture or I can just whip it to the side haha.

I downloaded a bit of She & Him last night.. it sounded a bit country to me?

I mean I was expecting old-style but.. I didn't really like it.. I like when she sings in 'Elf' but it was nothing like that.. Oh well, I do like her voice.

Yeah, the songs are pretty hard to get into unless you're a fan of the genre. 'Baby it's cold outside' (Elf) was beautiful

she has a lovely voice, but it just isn't my style

Summer: You can straighten your hair! SO LUCKY. I've got dead straight hair already and it seriously sucks. I got the DVD of 'Elf' a few years ago and I watched it again the other day, I love her in it! But she looks better with black hair then blonde.
