Yeah I think they'd be happy with this year's ratings which are often better than last year. I reckon it will go for one more season at least

QUOTE(Miss_Melissa @ Oct 7 2008, 11:30 PM)

its needs to go on for 2 more, so i can audition

It should have the same number of seasons as American Idol.

Only problem is that American Idol has a much larger talent pool and is still consistently one of if not the most popular show each year on US TV - Aus Idol has dipped in ratings since Season 2 with a sudden resurgence this year, but still nowhere near to it's peak in Seasons 1 and 2.

Two new articles on Idol finalists from 2006 from today’s Sun-Herald (Jessica Mauboy) and Sunday Telegraph (Lisa Mitchell).
Jess Mauboy’s brand new job
by Christine Sams
JESSICA MAUBOY has scored a career-making role as a lead actor in the new Australian feature film Bran Nue Dae. She will star alongside Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush and indigenous actors, including TV star Ernie Dingo, in the film.
A source close to Mauboy has confirmed she will be playing the key role of Rosie in the film. “It is a tremendous break in terms of Jess’s career. It is 100% confirmed,” she said. “Filming begins in Broome in late November, early December.”
Mauboy, who was the runner-up on Australian Idol in 2006, has undergone intensive acting training in Sydney under the guidance of renowned actor Deborah Mailman and producer Robyn Kersh-w, who was behind Looking for Alibrandi.
The film version of Bran Nue Dae will be based on the critically-acclaimed play by Jimmy Chi, with director Rachel Perkins at the helm.
Mauboy, who grew up in Darwin, will spend at least a month in Broome during filming.
The singer is not only relishing the chance to star in a major film, she is also experiencing a resurgence of interest in her music career. Although Mauboy has found some success performing with the all-female band Young Divas, she is expected to break out as a solo artist in her own right this year.
Her first single, Running Back, has been released digitally by SonyBMG, but will be released in stores on Saturday.
Mauboy is expected to release at least one more single, to show off some depth to her new songs, before the record company unveils her full-length debut early next year.
Mauboy has co-written neally all the tracks for the album.
Quiet achiever Lisa Mitchell is busy making her mark
by Jonathon Moran
SOFTLY SPOKEN teenager Lisa Mitchell is an impressive quiet achiever. The former Australian Idol contestant – who made it to sixth place on the reality singing show two season ago – has been busily honing her skills overseas as a singer/songwriter.
The 18-year-old has recorded two EPs and has just spent several months working in London on her debut album, Paint It Gold.
After Idol, Mitchell signed with independent label Scorpio Music and the album is being distributed through Warner.
“I have just been ticking along at my own pace, making songs about stuff that I feel is relevant,” Mitchell says. “It’s all progressing at a nice rate though. I am comfortable but it is still very exciting and pushes me a lot.”
Mitchell has teamed up with acclaimed British singer Ant Whiting, who has worked on albums for the likes of Arctic Monkeys and M.I.A. She has also written songs with ARIA award winners Ben Lee, Clare Bowditch and Kevin “Bob Evans” Mitchell, as well as the acclaimed British musician Ed Harcourt.
Living in the attic of a share house in London’s Queens Park, Mitchell had no choice but to grow up quickly. The experience, which she says was often lonely, helped with writing the album and made her stronger as a performer.
“I felt independent before I left but I feel it even more so now just from being in a massive city overseas,” she explained. “It has been really tough as well, which has been good.
“If you are having a s*** day in London and you don’t really know that many people, you have a really s*** day.
“London is just really quite unwelcoming.”
Lisa Mitchell plays The Basement in Sydney on October 16. Her album Paint It Gold is released on November 8.

Well I've been listening to Lisa Mitchell since she left idol, probably the best idol ever!
Also, Chrislyn deserves to leave based solely on the performance! She yelled the whole song and omg, if she isn't in the bottom three tomorrow, then its rigged!

I went out to dinner tonight so I missed most of tonight's show. I went home just in time to see Mark's performance. His favourite band is INXS and his dream came true when he met Tim and Kirk from the band. Tim and Kirk look so old that they have moustache! Mark sang S-x on Fire pretty well.
I have to see other performances in the morning before making judgments, I will vote for Sophie and Mark for sure.
