Just because he wasn't up to the competition doesn't mean he can't sing...He's got a great voice! Have you heard the songs on his myspace? Or even his last couple idol performances? So idol wasn't his thing, but that does not mean he is a bad singer! He's got a great voice and a lot of potential!

Cheer up Tom Williams, Channel TEN is crying a lot more than you today after Australian Idol’s lousy Monday performance in the ratings.

TEN finished fourth again (it seems to be pretty regular for Mondays) with just 15.5% share for the evening. Only 893,000 viewers tuned in for the verdict show. Not only was it beaten by The Force, Border Security, Top Gear Australia and Australian Story -it was even beaten by Top Gear Australia in the all important 16 - 39 demographic.

Worse was to follow with 90210 attracting only 616,000, but a better grip on 16-39yos finishing #4 overall for the night in that demographic.

Meanwhile, Top Gear Australia managed 933,000 which was down on an old UK version the week before (939,000). Given all the hype, the network would have been hoping to crack the 1m mark.

Nine should be pleased with 709,000 viewers average for a four hour miniseries. But despite a significant drop for Border Security it was Seven’s night again.

For the second week running, Idol sent TV Tonight photos of a tearful 16yo eliminated from its show (3 of Tom being consoled by Marcia). While it may be the moment of drama captured, it seems a merciless way to publicise the show. Where was the photo celebrating his achievement for making it so far? What does this say about the show’s editorial position?

Meanwhile, calls to lift the age of reality contestants from 16 to 18 go begging….

The youngest contestant on the 2008 Australian Idol series, Tom Williams, 16, saw his journey on the talent quest end last night after he was voted out of the bottom three. But according to Williams, the judges' bias against him rather than his lack of talent was the reason behind the eviction. He tells WHO why.


Are you disappointed your Idol experience is over?
I am but in another way I am glad: I was sick of being slaughtered by the judges and of the way they were portraying me.

What do you mean by that, did you think they had an agenda to get you off the show? Definitely - they know who they want to win and that's Wes. All the comments they made about me were negative and everything they did was about trying to get me off. I was disgusted by the way they portrayed me on the show last night, making out that I was only after phone numbers from girls. It just wasn't the case, but if they want to do that then that's up to them.

So you think the judging is rigged in some way?
Absolutely, everything is set up for Wes to win. He's a great bloke and he deserves it, but it's obvious they are trying to push him forward over anyone else.

Was the experience a positive one overall?
For sure, every thing I did I did it with 110 per cent and I'll remember the experience for the rest of my life.

You were criticized for not singing age appropriate songs - do you regret your song choices?
No, they say to stick to who you are and those songs are what I sing. I wasn't necessarily trying to appeal to the teenage market. Anyway, I liked the idea of entertaining older generations as well.

What's next for you now?
I'm going to take a break for a while but then I would love to start up a Jonas Brothers style of band - they are huge in America and I think a band like that could bring something special to Australian pop.

hmm, i dont knwo if youve read my other posts but, i got that msg when i voted for Brooke, the week before, and Tom last night! but when my friend voted for Jonny (cringe..lol) she didnt get that message! I dont know but idols weird this year!

I don't think Tom should have got into the top 12, if he came back 3 years later, he would have been 19, he would have been older and more experience with his voice.

And yeah, sore loser much (to the tom article posted on the page before).

So glad he went, he sounded the same every time he sung, and killed the songs 10 times more.

IN news sure to make tweenies swoon, Adelaide's jilted Australian Idol hope Tom Williams is "happily single at the moment but looking for love".
But it seems all the attention from the screaming lasses was the very thing which derailed Tom's hopes of stardom.
The 16-year-old Immanuel College student says while he's flattered by all the attention – "it's pretty insane, hey" – it's the media's spin on his teenage fan club which has him up in arms. "It (his exit from the comp on Monday night) had a lot to (do) with some of the media attention I was getting," Tom told Adelaide Confidential yesterday.
"It was all playing with my head, you read some bad comments and you get dragged down by it.
"I think it was split – you either liked me or you didn't."
But for now, Tom's just looking forward to getting home (he flew in last night) and soaking up the rays at our local beaches.
And if he's worried about copping a ribbing at school for his emotional and teary exit from Idol, young Tom's not showing it.
"I bawled my eyes out after," he freely admits. Tom says he'd like to see shearer Luke D!ckens win the Idol crown.
