Five months after it finished in the US, the 12th series of The Amazing Race will air in Australia w00t.gif
This series is the shortest in the program's history with only 11 episodes. 11 teams will be travelling around the world, completing all kinds of arduous tasks, in order to win US$1 million.
Teams for this series include father / daughter, "dating goths", brother / sister, lesbian married church ministers, grandfather / grandson, sisters, best friends and dating couples. There will be 11 pitstops, two of which are non-elimination.
The series starts in Australia on Thursday June 12, which leaves broadcaster Channel Seven nine weeks to air all 11 episodes by August 7, the night before the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. So expect double episodes to air before the end of the series.
By the time the winner is revealed, Australia will be up-to-date with the US with all 12 editions of TAR shown. Series 13 and 14 have been planned to air on CBS during the 2008-09 US TV season. As Seven has never aired more than two series of TAR in a calendar year, it will be interesting to find out how it will schedule the two upcoming races.

The Amazing Race will air at 9.30pm Thursdays on Channel Seven and its affiliates (Prime, Seven Queensland, Golden West WA, WIN South Australia, and Southern Cross stations in Tasmania South Australia and Darwin), and 9pm Thursdays on Southern Cross Central in NT, starting June 12.
EDIT: from July 9, the series will screen in Tasmania and Darwin at the new time of 10.30pm Wednesdays.

IPB Image

Kynt is a 31-year-old and Vyxsin is a 29-year-old. Both work as waiters and hair salon receptionists and reside in Louisville, Kentucky.
CBS says: Representing the "Goth" community in Louisville has embedded a strong sense of "us against the world" mentality in these two Racers. Therefore, don't look for them to fall apart when the chips are down - a trait that will undoubtedly be tested on the Race.

Azaria is a 27-year-old facilities engineer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Hendekea is a 23-year-old aerospace engineer from Torrance, California.
CBS says: This brother/sister team has all the intelligence, wits and skills to win the Race. Although their personality differences could be the X-factor. She describes him as confrontational and emotional, while he describes her as irrational. Both are worried that the big brother/little sister power struggle will rear its ugly head on the Race.

IPB Image
"Married Ministers" Kate Lewis and Pat Henderson ELIMINATED

Kate is a 49-year-old Episcopal clergy member. Pat is a 65-year-old ordained deacon. The couple resides in Thousand Oaks, California.

damn... I nearly forgot! ohmy.gif
well I always used to record it while I watch on computer as well as recording on tape as a back up but looks like I'm going to have to rely on only tape this time wink2.gif

btw, whats with 9:30 start??
Delta's my life
Yay! w00t.gif They showed Ireland on the ad, now I'm even more excited about it! biggrin.gif

Haha only a few more hours to go!

^ Yep, the first leg will be from lawn of the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills to Ireland.

It could have something to do with a team of lesbian church ministers or gothic people.
khrissy_25
I'm pretty sure in the past Channel 7 has played The Amazing Race at 9:30 before so it isn't such a big deal for me with the start.

Nah I don't reckon...

They deal with that stuff in Home and Away....

But hasn't it been at a late time for the last few seasons??
Knowlesey
Johnson that wouldn't make a difference. They've put it on at 9.30 cause their 7.30-8.30pm lineup is rating really well, so Ch7 don't wanna risk putting TAR there. They could put it on at 8.30 and move Bones to 9.30 i reckon, but it doesn't really bother me. tongue.gif
Great first ep as well, and was surprised to see Ari and Staella go first.. wasn't really their fault tho. I loved the donkeys haha! laugh.gif
terry_bogard_007
Ari and Staella and Nathan and Jennifer all obviously don't know much about animals... sure they might have gotten stubborn donkeys but screaming and shouting at them isn't going to help them wink2.gif
Shana and Jennifer were in last place but did the donkey run so FAST and got ahead of many of the teams easily.
I'm liking Azaria and Hendekea, I hope they go far cool.gif
Kynt and Vyxsin surprised me a bit when they came in 2nd! they deserved it though as they both work really well together.
Knowlesey
^Yea i agree, what they were doing to the donkeys was only making things worse! laugh.gif
I also like Azaria and Hendekea, and i think Kynt and Vyxsin will continue to surprise everyone. tongue.gif

this season is going to be great! i can just see it! w00t.gif who left first?

i fell asleep...
khrissy_25
Guy is that you? How have you been ?

and to answer your question it was --- > Ari & Staella
johnson
Was this some kind of payback? Ari and Staella took the taxi booked by Azaria and Hendekea in Ireland, then the donkey would not budge, costing Ari and Staella valuable time and led to them eliminated.
Also, the preview clip for next episode seems to suggest that one team could be banned from entering Holland. I understand that when people audition for TAR, they must declare if they have any criminal convictions so the producers could apply for visas for them at the same time, as different countries have different criteria when it came to previous convictions.

Aww that sucks it's happened to me with this account and my original account it happens to all of us.

OO Year 12 hey! Goodluck I can't believe it's been 2 whole years since I graduated !!!!! This year in November will be 3 *shudders*
terry_bogard_007
Lorena and Jason did awesome that episode.. definitely shaping up to be a strong team cool.gif
but from the previews looks like Lorena struggles during a challenge quite badly?

wow Ronald really needs to not talk so much eh? blink.gif

Jennifer and Nathan surprised me that episode when they made a huge jump from 10th to 2nd place.

Knowlesey
Omg i wanted to shoot Ronald, i felt so sorry for Christina!! sad.gif I think they'll go next week, i can't see them getting along.
It wasn't the best episode, the challenges were over before you knew it. Next week looks better though. smile.gif
johnson
I finally saw the last episode tonight (after taping it on Thursday) tongue.gif
It wasn't one of the best episodes. The bike search and the furniture lifting tasks were neither easy nor difficult.
The ditch vaulting task was quite funny laugh.gif
In the next two episodes the remaining teams will be in Africa. First stop is Burkina Faso.
johnson
Another eventful episode.
Firstly, had Ronald and her daughter missed the flight from Amsterdam to Paris, they would have been left behind and virtually eliminated. Then, if eight of nine remaining teams arrived in Burkina Faso one day after Nathan and Jennifer (given there is only one flight from Paris to Ouagadougou each day), it would have created a logistical nightmare for Phil and the production crew.
At the Bingo village, Lorena suffered a meltdown because the camel would not co-operate, and she and Jason were lucky to finish second last.
The only good point was that some teams were willing to learn the tribal language More (pronounced "morae" ). Burkina Faso is a former French colony and most children don't speak English.
johnson
Tonight's episode is still in Burkina Faso, and also sees the introduction of a new task called U-turn. It probably replaces Yield in previous races. There are two U-turns in the current series, in which a team forces another team to go back and complete a detour task the latter has not picked.
johnson
In Tasmania and Darwin, TAR has been pulled from the 9.30pm Thursday timeslot as of this week by Southern Cross TV and last night's episode (episode 4 in the series) will now be shown at 10.30pm Wednesdays as of July 9. This means Tasmania and Darwin will be one week behind the rest of the country.
Also from next Thursday (July 10), Seven and its affiliates (except Southern Cross TV in Tasmania and Darwin) will air double episodes of TAR from 9.30pm to 11.25pm. There are 7 episodes left in the series.
terry_bogard_007
Damn blondes... how the hell did they manage to pass with that dance? blink.gif
sad to see Lorena and Jason go but at least they got eliminated as a happy couple.
johnson
Seven will air double episodes of TAR from tonight so it can finish the series on July 31.
Also there is an article about the current season in today's Green Guide in The Age: http://www.theage.com.au/news/tv--radio/ra...5282907095.html
Jamelia_Fan

I think Azaria & Hendekea's Elimination was totally unfair. Firstly, why hasn't the season had any Non-Elimination's yet? There's only 5 teams left?

Secondly, it wasn't their fault they got Business Class instead of Econmy with the flights, and it ended up getting them eliminated which is totally unfair.
johnson
Episode 5
Blatant brand promotion at work again: the teams had to find a Travelocity gnome and the first team to arrive at the pitstop with the gnome won a trip to Japan. TK & Rachel were lucky to jump from last to first.
The detour tasks were difficult because of all the noise from the Midsummer Festival. How did Nathan and Jennifer manage to count "88, 89, 100" laugh.gif
Poor Ronald, he suffered scratches to his foot because he and his daughter chose to do the stilt detour with bare feet.
The elimination of Shana and Jennifer means we will have to wait until season 13 for the next all-female team to win the race for the first time.

Episode 6
The producers have deceived the viewers once again by moving the starting point of this leg to an open space somewhere in suburban Vilnius. (In last year's All-Stars, teams arrived at the Happy Valley Racecourse in Hong Kong but started the next leg outside the Conrad Hotel in Admiralty, 5km from Happy Valley!)
Plane connection played a huge part in the result of this leg to Croatia. I agree that the elimination of Azaria and Hendekea is a bit unfair because of a mistake by airline staff. Why did she book them on business class in the first place? But she was right on one thing: The plane carrying Nick & Donald and TK & Rachel arrived late at Prague that they missed the connecting flight, forcing them to spend more time at Prague. This meant Azaria & Hendekea were able to catch up with Nick & Donald at the detour.
I can see cracks in the relationship between Nathan and Jennifer. They had argued so much in the last few episodes and when they arrived at the pitstop they barely shook hands. (And were the taxi drivers correct by refusing to carry the couple initially because they were wet from rowing? I am not so sure.)
Ronald and Christina became the first team of Chinese descent to win a leg. Could they win the race?
Six straight eliminations mean the next non-elimination leg is not too far away, as is the Intersection task.
terry_bogard_007
I'm glad Shana and Jennifer are out but am so damn annoyed Azaria & Hendekea got eliminated in such an unfair way..
Jennifer and Nathan are doing so well in the race but are so frustrating to watch with all their arguing dry.gif they are so not going to be together after this race..
I cannot believe there is ONLY 5 teams remaining.. its all just finishing too fast wink2.gif
I'm now going for Kynt and Vyxsin or Rachel and TK to win cool.gif
Delta's my life
I'm going for TK and Rachel! biggrin.gif

I love their attitude towards the race, how they're just taking it easy and staying calm.
I really hope they win! happy.gif
johnson
Two more episodes tonight. The teams will go to Italy then India. One of the pitstops will be non-elimination.

wow I so thought they would have been out of the race after TK couldn't do that challenge after 3-4 attempts.
but a huge YAY to them for coming in first at the pitstop for the first time! w00t.gif

and OMG I cannot believe Kynt and Vyxsin didn't decide to U-turn Nathan and Jennifer blink.gif
turned out to be their single biggest mistake which ultimately cost them the game. wink2.gif

And yeah I know I can't believe Kynt & Vyxsin with the U-turn, that was just stupid lol.

Only 4 teams now!

Man I hope Rachel & TK win or Ronald & Christina. If Gramps and the nerd win I will scream lol.
