SUPERNATURAL star Jared Padalecki is feeling a little snug in the pants. His bags were misplaced en route to Australia and he arrived without even his undies.
As a result his first stop when he arrived in Sydney was to pick up some new underpants, but for a guy who spends most of his time battling the paranormal on the Network Ten hit show Supernatural as Sam Winchester, buying grundies proved quite a challenge.
"I had to go buy clean underwear with the crazy Australian sizes that I didn't understand," he said in Sydney today.
"Sixteen? 18? I have no idea what size I am - we do small, medium and large.
"They're far too small - they're like a thong. It's embarrassing.''
But the hoards of teenage girls who queued up to see Padalecki at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Sydney today didn't mind.
Hundreds of fans of the show waited in line for hours to see Padalecki and grab an autograph or a photo.
Padalecki, who made a name for himself playing teen heartthrob Dean on the hit show the Gilmore Girls, says meeting his fans is one of the biggest perks of the job.
"It's exciting to do stuff like this - people are coming to see you and take pictures, and give you compliments and take photos with you and want your autograph - you definitely feel cool after doing it," Padalecki joked.
"We put in so many hours on this show that it's nice to meet people face-to-face as opposed to seeing ratings - a meaningless number on an internet site somewhere."
Padalecki filmed Disney movie A Ring of Endless Light in Australia in 2002 and then a remake of House of Wax with Paris Hilton in 2005.
He is one of many stars who have turned up in Sydney to greet fans at the Supanova Expo, including Jewel Staite from Firefly and Stargate: Atlantis, Kandyse McClure from Battlestar Galactica, and the stars of Gladiators and Heroes.
The Expo, which runs all weekend at Sydney Olympic Park, celebrates all things imaginary from Star Wars to Superman, Halo to Harry Potter and Transformers to Tomb Raider.

I was so excited when I watched Supernatural last night I was running around the room like "omg I met Jared!! omg I met Jared!! I met him!! " haha telling my cats that I met him

Ok heres my reports for Saturday and Sunday.. copied and pasted from my lj

Saturday

Well Dani dani_blondy and I got up early and we arrived at The Dome i forget the time, but it was early we were waiting for what seemed like aaaages. Finally got in at 10am (I think it was) and we had trouble with our tickets but it was all sorted (i won't go into boring details ill skip to the Jared bits haha) and yeah we got our passes for Saturday. We then I think went to the autograph cue and because we had our passes for Saturday we got to skip ahead (YAY) and so we chose our pics to get autographed and we waited for him.
He came out and started signing. He then I think took a few pics for various places etc. and yess signed away. When Dani and I got up to him, we handed him our pics.. and it basically went like this (I think from memory.. if i'm wrong please correct me Dani lol )

note D=Dani, J=Jared, M=Me

*Dani and I hand pics to him* i'm just paraphrasing here some of its not word for word
i'm pretty sure he said J: whose this to?
D: Danielle
J: how do you spell that?
D: *missepslls her name*
J: *repeats what she said but is confused*
Me: D-A-N-I Elle; I think Jared looked at me when he I spelt it tooo haha
D: *says something about it being my birthday*
J: No way *looks at me* Happy Birthday!
M: yeah, thankyou! *Jared loooks at me as he starts to sign my pic - like hes looking at me asking my name* Bernadette

M: *says it at the same time as Jared* yeah you got it
J: I just have to check, I don't write the scripts I only read them. *I think he thanked us here too*

Ok I realise how crappy that transcript is, but you get the gidst. I can't believe I spoke to him! I wasn't nervous or anything either, only AFTER meeting him I starting shaking like "omg i met him!!" He was so sweet, and I was like squeeing inside that he said happy birthday too me. Seriously its been nonstop in my mind him saying that to me. ♥ him saying my name in his accent ahh *loves*

Oooh and from memory, when we were lining up to meet him for auto's the poster of him fell and someone goes:

Random person: the poster is falling
Jared: I'm falling down, it must be the jet lag *and hes looking like in my direction sorta at me*

anyway...
then after that we walked around for a bit - no idea where I think we got something to eat, and sat down and then qued up for pics with him. yay for the SupaPass as we got to be one of the first people, so we got our pics quick. And when I went in there I stood on the stool they had hes like "i'm tall" and anyway.. I stand up on the stool get my pic with him and yes..
*hides* heres my pic, I look so I dunno LOL Oh well. I cant complain really at least im not blinking. and look at Jared he looks oh so pretteh. Just focus on the Jared LOL.



Am I weird that I smelt him? and I can still feel his hand on my shoulder? he seriously smelt so good LOL.

and then we waited around for our pics and hung around for a bit more, just walking around and they go "anyone who wants another pic with Jared come now you have 5mins" and they said they would take cash straight up and HELLO I HAD $50 so I took the oppurtunity and Dani and I got a group pic.
We were deciding whether or not to stand on stools and hes like "are you gonna stand on stools?.. where do you want me in the middle?" and well anyway hes in the middle and hes smiling XD look how tall he is compared to us LOL we're so short.



and we thanked him and I think he thanked us and off we went.

Waiting for that pic was torturous I swear we waited like 30mins at least, took AAAAAAGES. After that we waited around for a bit, and then we left. We were both tiiiired, and yes.

Sunday

Dani and I got there a bit later on Sunday, and yeah we waited to get inside.. and then we got inside and got another pic for him to sign. I totally snuck myself getting another autograph on the white slip you get, as I had gotten this one yesterday for Katie's autograph.. I changed the 1 to 2, and changed the price from $40 to $80 haha. Seriously SO EASY to do. LOL but hey I don't think anyone minded .. anyway we were queing for what seemed like aaaaages for another autograph. The line was huge, and those with the blue wrist bands were let ahead of us - I was fine with it, it was annoying waiting that long. But I knew we would meet him again so it didn't bother me really.
I'm just leaving stuff out here, just to get to the good parts lol anyway we finally get to Jared and he's looking at me as I lay down my 3 things to get signed.
I think the convo was like this
J: hey nice to see you again
M: yeah you too
J: whose this to?
M: for my friend whose in the UK, and the other two are mine
J: you tired?
M: yeah, I flew up from Melbourne on Friday which was my birthday
J: happy birthday! is that the same time zone as here? i'm a bit confused with that (I think he said that or something like that)
M: yeah its the same
J: what does that make you?
M: I stupidly answer my birthdate lmao I said Friday, June 20.. i'm 20.
J: no like i'm a cancer, so what are you?
M: oh a gemini
J: I know lots of geminis *he says something about all the gemini's he knows I think he said someone he knew had a birthday a few days ago* I like Gemini's
m: *smiling - just about to go and I waited for Dani* i'm just gonna wait for my friend
D *hands him his present - I forgot what you said*
J: *I think he was like "oh awesome, thankyou"* When you see Sam in the first episode you're gonna be "who is this man".. *something along those lines.. he said the same thing in the Q+A*

that was awesome, my converstation was rather long I noticed compared to quite a few people who just got his auotgraph said hello and went.. I noticed that as after we were done there we took pics for 30mins. I got some good shots I think. Shall post them in my next post.
I'm rather surprised I wasn't nervous or anything really when I spoke to him, just shy.. but I did speak LOL I got all shaky etc after though. he was just so sweet and awesome, and I loved that he remembered me!! He seems to have a great memory.

After that we went to get seats for the Q+A, we were like sorta in the middle/back. Crappy spot for pics - my pics are horrid, but I got some recordings which are good! I kinda found all the questions were so predictable and boring, and omg who wanted to shoot that mother? and yeah I think it was cut short due to all the people getting pics. Which I too was fine with. I just wish we had more creative types of questions etc. Something that I hadn't heard before. But it was still great just to hear him speak lol, and he was so funny. He's so animated!!

and then once that was over we headed over to get something to eat I think and then we saw pics getting taken. If I had the chance I would have gotten another one but I had a plane to catch like 5:45 so I didn't. But alas its all good!

yeah we hung around for a bit and walked around and then left at around 3ish and got to the airport at like 3:45-4ish or something.. and yes I hopped on the plane and went home. The plane trip home was alot better than getting there. I had no-one sitting next to me on the way home and I had a window seat (even though it was dark) and yeah.

Overall it was good weekend. sorry for being SO QUIET Dani! I do speak LOL I just suck at starting conversation etc and keeping it. But thankyou too if theres anything I can do for you let me know. I'll be happy to do whatever.

I so agree with Jewel Staite there is nothing more loyal and a sci-fi fan. I think out of ALL the tv shows they are the most loyal, dedicated and creative. They will stick by the show till its very end, and do EVERYTHING in their power to keep their show alive and spread the word. All of that is true of the Supernatural fandom

well, i just saw the final episode of the series. i won't say whether dean lives or dies, for the sake of those who haven't seen it. but it's a good episode, for sure. i'm still pumping full of adrenaline 15 minutes after.
