Hey guys,

Well this morning the nominations for the 2006 Logie Awards were announced at a special breakfast, which was also covered by Sunrise and Today. The official list has been published in this week's edition of TV Week (April 8-14 edition) and below I've typed up the entire list of nominations for this year. As some of you will know, there has been a couple changes. The biggest perhaps is that there are eight nominees for the Gold Logie this year, to celebrate 50 years of television in Australia. Voting for these eight nominees continues until the red carpet special on Logies night, by calling a 1902 number or smsing. I've included those details in here as well. Also, in memory of Graham Kennedy, there is a new Logie for Most Outstanding New Talent. So here we go...

Gold Logie
John Wood (Blue Heelers, Channel Seven) - SMS John to 199 888 22 or call 1902 559 598

Bridie Carter (McLeod's Daughters, Nine Network) - SMS Bridie to 199 888 22 or call 1902 559 592

Bert Newton (GMA With Bert Newton, Network Ten/Bert's Family Fued, Nine Network) - SMS Bert to 199 888 22 or call 1902 559 595
Bec Hewitt (Home and Away, Channel Seven) - SMS Bec to 199 888 22 or call 1902 559 593

I really hope John Wood wins it this year, he truly does deserve it.

He lives near me and I see him all the time & he's a really nice person - I'll definitely be behind him with voting this year!

Wow, that's awesome Jana!

I agree, John Wood really deserves it more than the others I think. If it was like the Emmy's - where it's not always the work you did that year but how often you've been nominated etc - he would have won it years ago. I think this year might really be his year as people will figure this is his last chance smile.gif

Good luck to all the nominees smile.gif Shouldn't Bec Hewitt have been nominated using her original name Bec Cartwright though? (She tied the knot with Lleyton AFTER quitting Home And Away)

Are there usually that many gold logie nominees?? Seems like alot!
Nice to see alot of new people there for once!! smile.gif
kirkitus
^ Nope, there's usually five. As I said, the changes to the Gold Logie is because this year is the 50th year of television in Australia.

Kate Ritchie was a real happy surprise for me. After so many years on H&A, it's about time.

I usually wouldn't vote for anyone (except of course if it was Delta), but I'll vote for John!

Is it really his last chance? Like, when is Blue Heelers being taken off TV?
namdog
yeah go Natalie Bassingtwaighte
delta.fever
bec 'hewitt' is sooo last year. she was barely on TV this year anyways! lmao, rove should take a break and john should get it, they've been teasing him for wayy too long!

Well it's not his last last chance, but it's his last chance for Blue Heelers since it's only going for a little bit more of the year. If he does another show again then he can be nominated again but since Blue Heelers is ending and it's John's 10th time being nominated for the Gold Logie, I really think the voters are gonna try and get him over the line.

Meh, most of the people up for Gold have about as much personality as my foot. And the fact that Bec is up there disgusts me, she's done nothing except push out a kid and plaster its face all over the magazines

Looking at that list - I'm crushed - Isabel Lucas aint on it, and I think she is absolutely fantastic...although I'm happy to see Jodi Gordon on it!

The last every episode of Blue Heelers is scheduled for Saturday night, June 10. (just before the start of Seven's rugby telecast tongue.gif )
And to celebrate Blue Heelers' 500th episode, Better Homes and Gardens host Johanna Griggs visited Wood's home at the Yarra Valley earlier this year smile.gif You can see the segment on BHG this Friday on Seven at 7.30pm happy.gif

As expected, five past Gold Logie winners will co-host this year's Logie Awards: Lisa McCune, Ray Martin, Bert Newton, Daryl Somers and Georgie Parker. Parker replaces Rove McManus after he decided hosting the Logies once was enough. But Rove will still present an award on the night.

^ That's a stupid idea imo. Why do they neded five hosts?! Is it to prove it's an industry night and not a Channel 9 event? Because if so, that got tossed aside when they tried to stop Sunrise from getting any footage of the Gold Logie nominations whistling.gif
johnson
Less than a week to go!
Martin
Go Natalie!!! I'll be watching you >.<
Born_2_try_delta
i think ada should win the gold logie
we should do a comp here like say in every cat of who you think will win and one for the gold logie

and then do prizes for the one who are close and you got it right for the gold and if there is more then one person put them in a draw or something
glamxbabe
go paul,rhys and jodi

It is tomorrow night! I have to tape it but still excited. My younger sis and I often do bets every year..she has won every time so far! I would love John Wood to get the Gold but I secretly hope Kate or Nat gets it. I really want Joel to win Most Popular Actor. His storyline last year, especially with the cancer was amazing.

Woo hoo! Tomorrow night! Should be interesting to see how it all turns out with the 5 hosts (woo hoo! LISA!!) and the way they've done the Gold Logie! I don't mind who wins it - but really hoping not Bert Newton whistling.gif ... not much of a fan! John Wood does deserve it (but I had a bad experience with him ...) though I do still feel sorry for him! And although I'm a fan of Bec's - really don't think she deserves it! Guess we'll find out tomorrow night!! ... well tonight really!
