ACTRESS Marcia Cross, a star of the hit TV show Desperate Housewives, is headed for real-life matrimony with her stockbroker boyfriend Tom Mahoney.

Her publicist, Heidi Slan, was quoted on the Us Weekly magazine website as saying Cross, 43, and Mahoney, 47, became engaged last weekend, but she added, "the happy couple have not set a date for the wedding yet".
The red-haired actress, who earned an Emmy nomination for her role as the perfectionist homemaker Bree Van de Kamp on Desperate Housewives, began dating Mahoney about six months ago. They recently holidayed together in Europe and Aspen, Colorado, the magazine said.

Neither has been married before.

Desperate Housewives ranks as the most watched new series on television this year. The show has garnered 15 Emmy nominations in all, including a bid for best comedy.

Cross's character - Wisteria Lane's newly widowed Bree Van de Kamp - has been described in a TV network news releases as "Martha Stewart on steroids".

omg im so happy for her. when i was watching channel four & they do those we things whats your first memory & ask famous people the last one i seen was what would you like to do before you die & marica said "be a mother" i just felt like crying for her. she is so adorable. she is the best in DH. i really hope she wins the emmy. but i love all the housewives, its such an amazing show but im gald she is happy & has found love. yaye for marica.
