Well, by the term 'connected' could we also mean descendents off? If so, then I am a direct descendent of Hahachi Honda, retainer to Lord Ieyasu Tokugawa who in 1601 defeated Mitsunari Ishida at the battle of Sekigahara to unify all of Japan. Hahachi Honda was famous for his Tonbogiri spear (literally 'dragon-fly cutting spear') and the fact that he was never hurt in battle regardless of how perilous the situation was. The name is derived from a story that Hahachi Honda was standing in the presence of Lord Ieyasu (the above named), Masanori -ushima (head of Ieyasu's Seven Spearmen), Mitsuhide and Hidemitsu Akechi, and a dragon-fly went to perch atop the spear, in doing so it was immediately cut in half.

I've met Darren Hayes (cos I won a meet and greet for his concert), Peter Garett (he is VERY tall!!), Heather Turland (she's a runner and she also does those Nutella ads on TV), and some guy named Tony who plays AFL. He was standing in front of me in a supermarket checkout queue. Um, I think that's it.

My husband has met heaps of famous people. He beat Mark Phillipoussis in tennis for the under 14's state title (I know that that's a forbidden name around here now!) he's played against and been coached by a number of famous tennis players. Can't recall all of their names though. I know he's met Pat Cash more than once. He's also met some famous rugby league players. Some of them he met at games, some he met because they live locally, one he met cos his son plays in the under 7's on the oval down the road from us!

But I don't know any famous people personally, I'm not close to any of them


I am related to someone connected to someone famous. My great great great great great great grandfather was brought out from England by John Macarthur to work with his sheep. If you live near Camden NSW, there's a heap of my family there, most of them in the cemetary! My family was one of the two most prominent families around that area at the time.

PS John Macarthur was the one who 'invented' Merino sheep in Australia. Remember that history lesson??

Also some comedian held me when I was a baby...can't remember who he is though. Dammnit, he died either a few years ago or in 1994 or something. It might have been someone like...Les Dawson??? Not too sure, lol.

I also know someone who's old driving instructor is related to Peter Kay!

My Dad also knows a few people who are somehow known to quite a few people...not sure who. But one was a footballer...until he got injured!
