I have a list of some German people I have to chose 3 from, to write about, for language... and I have done 2 of them and was wondering if a few of you could read it and see if its ok...
Roger Federer : Roger Federer is a famous tennis player for Germany. He started playing professionally in 1998. He was born on the 8th of August in Basel, in Switzerland. He is 185cms tall and weighs approx. 80 kgs. He is a right handed tennis player and it has been a childhood dream since he was a very young, to win a Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. He managed to achieve his goal in 2003, and then again in 2004. ![]() He said: “I was always joking when I was a boy I'm going to win this and now I have it! It's the best ever. It was the most important match in my life. It's just an absolute dream; to lift the trophy is very emotional.” And “To win Wimbledon as a first Grand Slam it's definitely the best one for me.” Some of Federer’s great strengths are said to be his Brilliant shot maker, exceptional flexibility, touch, and accuracy. His Capability of great power on ground strokes and serves, his extremely quick smooth movement, and the way he is comfortable on all parts of the court. Mozart: Mozart was born to parents Leopold and Anna Maria, in Salzburg, on January 27th, 1756. His real full name is ‘Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophillus Amadeus Mozart’ but he was called ‘Wolferl’ or ‘Wolfie’, for short. But when he started writing, he wrote his name as ‘Mozart’ and that’s how he got his name. When Mozart was a child, his family were not rich and lived in a small house, but he was a very happy child. Mozart loved music. When his sister Nannerl was seven and Wolferl was three, their father started teaching her to play the piano. Mozart could not stay away! He loved hearing her play and he loved the sound of music. He would sit on the floor, playing with his toys while she practiced her music. They couldn’t keep him away from the piano. After her lessons, he would come up to the piano, stand on tippy toes, reach up with his tiny little fingers and delicately touch the keys. When Mozart touched two keys at the same time that he liked the sound of, it made him laugh. But when he touched two keys that sounded horrible together, he cried. He knew even as a little child, what notes sounded right together, and which ones didn't. When he was 4, his father gave him piano lessons. His father would play a tune, and almost straight away he could play it back. His father showed him how to write music, and he could write notes, and music, before he could write words. ![]() As a child Mozart was always humming tunes that no one had heard before. He found this a way of writing a type of story. He would sit down and write out the music in his head, and what he felt at the time. Mozart wrote his first piece at 5 years old, it was a piano solo that’s very famous world wide today. People in his village were amazed to hear such music coming from the Mozart’s house. When people heard the little boy was making it, they were very shocked! As Mozart grew up he continued to make music. He wrote his first true Opera at twelve years of age. La finta semplice (The Pretended Simpleton). The singers refused to perform in a piece conducted by a little boy and there were claims made that the piece was written by his father, not the son. Mozart was also fluent in Italian and French as well as his native German. There is no evidence of his formal schooling and it appears that his father was his tutor in all subjects. ![]() Through out his life a lot of very sad things happened to Mozart. He was often ill, and other musicians tried to keep him from getting work. The weirdest thing of all happened one very hot summer day while he was alone in his house. A man came to him, dressed in dark clothes with a dark hood covering his head. He handed Mozart a piece of paper, asking him to compose a requiem. He gave Mozart a lot of money to do this. This really scared him. He was sure that he was going to die soon, and that the song he was writing was for his funeral. ![]() Over the next several months, Mozart was obsessed with writing this piece for the stranger in the dark cloak, never really knowing who he was. As he wrote it, his illness became worse. He became so ill that he couldn’t even get out of bed, and he found it hard to breathe. He was never able to finish the whole piece by himself. Part of this piece was named the "Tuba Mirem" It’s considered one of the most beautiful pieces he wrote. On Dec 5th, 1791 Mozart died of a feverish illness. However there are a few myths surrounding the death of Mozart. He was only 36 years old but he wrote some of the greatest music ever written and is still very famous centuries even later. I've actually got pictures between some of the paragrahps, so it breaks it up a little -------------------- ![]() |

Anne Frank would be one of my personal choices.
She was a 'writer' or diarist and died in a Nazi consentration camp around 1944 -------------------- |
